Is there an eco-friendly alternative to foam when upholstering furniture?

oliviastats asked:

I just can’t stand that our furniture, clothing and homes are filled with toxic substances and chemicals. I’ve heard that many manufactured products that you can find in our homes emit a toxic gas. Is there an alternative to foam that I can use for support when I re-upholster furniture? Something that will biodegrade? I know hay and horse hair were used back in the day, but that isn’t very cheap right now. Any other suggestions?

Any answers are greatly appreciated! Also, if you have a good “search phrase” I can google, that will be appreciated also! Thank you!

i posted this 2 times be4, but no good answers. so please a lot of people help. I dye my hair and i use panteen shampoo + conditioner. or i would use a dandruff shampoo. is using different shampoo, conditioners and hair sprays ok? i would really love a hair spray, that has a LIGHT smell of goodness, no frizz, helps with thick hair to make it shiny. the ones that worked for me is sunslik, matrix and redskin. but those are 20$ per bottle. so the cheep ones like tresseme are great i love the shiny spray and the super hold. but the smell is getting to me now, and iven been using it for many years, so im tired of it. whats a better hair spray? i tried john frida, but that made me so itchy, so im bringing it back tomorrow at target and getting something better, i really need something that works, cheep, and that holds for 24 hours. eco friendly and doesn’t test on animals. please help, is Aussie good? or something else? i would really like a spray before i dry my hair to anti frizz it and a mega hold hair spray for styling it after i dry it. thanks so much !!! what do you use that works? what should i use, that’s good for my hair?

Eco-friendly vegan paint for art?

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
Stella asked:

It seems the only vegan paints I can find are not natural products. I want paints that I can use as art supplies, not wall paint. Non-toxic. No animal testing. I saw this natural hemp paint but it’s for children and they are very expensive, with a small colour option. Oil paints and acrylic paints are perffered.

where can i get leather products made from animals that were not killed, just died of natural causes?

Friday, May 22nd, 2009
pagan_veggie_n_goth asked:

the question says it all. i am a veggie, but also realise that “pleather” is not exactly eco friendly, and i am looking for websites that offer creulty free leather, cos that kinda solves the problem. so long as the animal the leather came from wasnt killed, im happy.
